Air Chief Marshall Sir Frederick Bowhill presents Captain Donald M. McVicar a Commendation for "Valuable Services in the Air" on the tarmac of Dorval Airport on July l9th, 1942.

Sir,

I am commanded by the Air Council to inform you that His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve the award to you of a COMMENDATION in recognition of your valuable services in the air when, under the auspices of the Royal Air Force Ferry Command, you took part in a hazardous survey of an alternative route for the ferrying of military aircraft to this country via North-East Canada and Greenland.

2. The Air Council wish me to convoy to you their warm congratulations on this mark of His Majesty's favour and to thank you for all your help.

3. The award will be published in a supplement to the London Gazette on Thursday. 11th June. Until then it is confidential.

4. You will receive the COMMENDATION certificate in due course from the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood.
